Happy Friday friends!  I am so happy it is almost the weekend because we are headed to Denver tomorrow to visit some friends.  This will be our fourth straight weekend that we have been out of town but we have really enjoyed being able to have this time to visit friends and family.

We always said that this year in Corvallis would be a year a traveling.  It is a good time for us to take the time to visit all our friends that have been scattered around the country since we are in a transitional time in our life.  And we are so close to Portland so the flights are cheaper and shorter!

We also just found out about a direct flight from Eugene to San Fransisco so we would like to book a fun weekend get-a-away there too!  I just love San Fran and I think if I could pick to live anywhere right now, it would be there.  I lived there for a month studying art while I was in college and it was a magical place.  Have you visited San Fransisco before?  What did you think?

Have a wonderful weekend!

This is a picture I took when we were in Kennewick last weekend. It is a picture of the Columbia River. Who would have thought I could miss the Columbia River sooo much!

On another note, it’s almost the weekend! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I am so excited about this weekend because Jonathan and I are flying to SPOKANE, WA! Jonathan had a four day weekend and we decided to take advantage of our time and fly to Spokane for a few days. I am so excited to see all our fabulous friends and visit all of our favorite places.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful week! I learned how to do something new on Photoshop that I am very excited about. I learned how to copy a picture into my text (see above picture). For all you Photoshop wizards this is probably old hat to you but I am learning Photoshop on my own and every little thing feels like a victory! For this picture I used a water color print I did awhile back and I like how it looks in the letters.

Jonathan and I are headed to Kennewick Washington to visit family and we are really excited! It is super hot there so I am really looking forward to jumping into my parent’s pool. I am also exited to see all of our cutie pie nieces and nephews. It feels like it has been forever since we have seen them! What are your plans for the weekend?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! See you Monday!

Lake Coeur d’Alene

11 Jul

I was going through my old photographs (trying to organize) and found this instagram picture I took when we were at Lake Coeur d’Alene earlier this spring.  Isn’t it just one of the most wonderful places to be in the summer?!

Today I have been missing Spokane and all our friends, our favorite places and our old neighborhood.  Corvallis has been fabulous but sometimes I just miss seeing familiar faces and places.  I am getting used to the area but there are still a lot of things I don’t know.  Like, where is the post office or who is a good mechanic or where do I get a decent cup of coffee!  And, I don’t think I will ever get used to letting someone pump my gas at the gas station.

But I am learning a lot from this experience such as the importance of patience!  I am also learning that this is a process and I need to take each day at a time as well as how to find beauty in the little things.

Happy Wednesday friends!

Happy Friday friends! What are your plans for the weekend? Jonathan and I plan to go to the Oregon Coast again. We just love it and can’t get enough of it! It is so exciting to move to a new place and explore all the new cities and sites it has to offer. I never expected to get to live so close to the coast but it has been so fun. Last time we went to the beach the tide was out pretty far and we got to look at a bunch of different tide pools. We saw some beautiful starfish which I thought was amazing! The above photo is a picture I took on Newport beach when it was still early in the morning. Isn’t the beach magical when it is foggy and quiet?

DIY: Succulent Garden Preview

5 Jul

I am working on a project that I am really excited to share with you guys! I have fallen in love with succulents and I am in the process of creating my own succulent garden. When we moved into our new apartment in Corvallis, I decided I wanted the theme for our living room to be flower market/white/fresh. As a part of the decorating process I knew I wanted to have succulents but I have spent some time thinking about how I wanted to go about it. I think I have finally decided on this garden and I am so excited about it! I am working on finishing the project and putting a fun DIY post together for you so stay tuned!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July!

happy fourth of july!

4 Jul

Since today is the Fourth of July, I thought it would be appropriate to share a birthday invitation I made for my sister last year.  A trend that I have noticed really catch on in the last few years is evites – emailing invitations.  Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE actual card invitations that get sent in the mail.  But sometimes it is more practical/time saving to use evite.  And since I am a lover of design, I decided to take my own approach to the evite and design an email invitation of my own.   I designed it in photoshop and then pasted it directly into an email.  And voila!  A fun alternative to emailing an invitation.

Can you believe it is already July?! Time seems to just fly by! The first half of this year has been full of adventure and surprises so I am interested to see how the second half of the year plays out.

Jonathan and I have some fun things planned for this month that I am very excited about. We are planning a fun trip to Portland for the 4th of July and then possibly heading to the Oregon Coast after for some beach fun. And another trip I am REALLY excited about is our trip to Spokane! We are looking into flights right now for coming to Spokane for four days in the middle/end of July! I am so excited! There are so many people to see and so many of our favorite places to visit.

Here are some of my favorite Spokane places lately:
– Bon Bon (of course!)
– Cannon Park
Branches
– South Perry Pizza
– Luna
– Holly and Jeremy’s apartment

Do you have any places in your home town that you just have to visit when you are home? Places that just feel like home?

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful week and are excited for the weekend!  Jonathan and I celebrated the weekend yesterday since he had the day off.  We had some friends in town and it was really wonderful to spend some time with familiar faces.  It is so weird when you move to a new town because you can go days without seeing anyone you know! Anyways, we had a great night last night filled with good conversation and some really yummy homemade pizza!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

enchante

26 Jun

Enchante in French means, I’m very pleased to meet you.  Or at least something like that.

As a part of my year of art, I have also decided to take a French class.  It is a summer course I found at the Community College in Corvallis.  The actual title is called, “French for Travelers.”  For awhile now Jonathan and I have been talking about taking a trip to Paris.  Originally, we were thinking this fall but we might change our plans and go in the spring.  We really wanted to have an exciting trip planned this year because we knew it was going to be a very intense year for both of us.  Also, I have never learned any languages other than sign language so I decided it was time start and why not with one of the most beautiful!

Why Paris you ask?  Well, there are a couple of reason.  I have spent some time in Europe over the last few of years (actually when I went two years ago for a couple months, I started this blog!) but I never got to go with Jonathan.  Jonathan has never been to Europe and I have been desperately wanting to take him!  To me, Europe is full of so much mystery and enchantment and it is definitely my happy place.  To be able to go there with Jonathan would be a dream.  And Paris specifically because I have recently started following this wonderful blog called oh happy day and she and her family moved to Paris for a year and wrote about their experiences and it was magical!  Paris wasn’t by any means my favorite but I would say France as a whole was one of my favorites and I think Jonathan would love it.  Also, after seeing this picture how could you not want to go!  Well, maybe it is just me and my extreme love for peonies.

I will keep you posted on my class and our travels.  If you could plan your ideal trip anywhere, where would you go?
