Depoe Bay Adventure

24 Apr

depoe bay 2

You guys!  Oh my goodness, we went to Depoe Bay yesterday, and it was fabulous!  The weather was perfect, and the scenery was so beautiful.  One of my favorite things we did was explored some really cool, secluded beaches where you had to hike on narrow trails to get to them.  It was peaceful because there wasn’t very many people around, making it feel like you had the place to yourself!  I guess this bay is a great place for whale watching, but we didn’t see any while we were there.

To end our adventure we went to this really yummy restaurant for dinner where they served amazing, fresh seafood.  The restaurant had huge windows overlooking the bay, and the view was breathtaking.

Jonathan and I both agreed that one of the things we will miss most about our time in Corvallis is living so close to the Oregon Coast.  I feel so lucky that we can just take off for an afternoon to the beach.

Happy Wednesday friends!

House in Milwaukee!

22 Apr

MKE HOUSE

Hi there!  How is your Monday going?  Did you have a good weekend?  We had a pretty eventful weekend trying to find a place to live in Milwaukee, and the good news is, we found one!  We have gone back and forth for months trying to decide whether we wanted to buy a house or rent.  Our biggest challenge was that we wouldn’t be able to fly down to Milwaukee ahead of time to see the houses in person.  So you can imagine how nervous we were to buy a house without looking at it first!  Actually, last week we put an offer and a counter offer on a house we really liked but in the end it didn’t work out.  And, honestly I think it was for the best.  Because, right after our plan fell through with that house, an amazing house to rent popped up in the same neighborhood!  It was exactly what we wanted with beautiful hardwood floors, tons of big windows, a front porch and a fireplace.  I guess there were a ton of people trying to rent this place, but miraculously we got it!  The above picture doesn’t really do it justice but I wanted to have something to show you!

It is such a relief to now have a place to live in Milwaukee.  It is easier to start planning our future there now that we can picture the house we will be living in, and the neighborhood we will be spending time in.  I feel so lucky that we were able to find a place to live in this specific neighborhood because it is very similar to the area we lived in when we were in Spokane.  We can walk to fun cafes and restaurants, and the neighborhood is beautiful and historical.

I can’t wait to share pictures with you once we move and start to settle in!  I am hoping to do lots of fun DIY posts about how we choose to decorate the place.

I have a few other exciting announcements to share with you in the coming days and weeks so stay tuned!

Dreaming of Sun

18 Apr

sunumbrellas

Hi there!  Isn’t this picture dreamy?!  I love all the bright colors of the different sun umbrellas, and that location!  Amazing!  Lately, I have been dreaming of sun.  We haven’t had a whole lot of sun in Oregon this spring, and I am in desperate need of some!  Whenever the sun comes out it makes everything better!  It seems that even if I am having a hard day if the sun comes out, I can’t help but feel better.  So today I am daydreaming of sunshine, and tropical vacations!  Are you with me?!

Easy Confetti

16 Apr

Good morning friends!  How was your weekend?  Our weekend was pretty crazy.  Jonathan was super sick, and we had a lot of big moving decisions to make.  Moving halfway across the country is crazy!  If any of you have any good moving tips I would love to hear them!

easy confetti

Today I wanted to share with you a really fun and easy party trick.  The other night Jonathan and I threw a fiesta, and to spice up the table I sprinkled confetti everywhere.  It was SO fun!   All I did to make the confetti was pull out our 3-hole punch and dump all of the leftover paper holes onto the table.  There were a lot of fun colors already in the hole punch, but to add a pop of bright colors I also took some scraps of pink/yellow/purple paper and hole punched those too.  Voila!  Easy Confetti!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! What are your weekend plans?  Jonathan and I have a big (and exciting!) decision to make over the weekend.  Our big move to Milwaukee is getting closer and closer, leaving us with lots of future planning and decision making.  Hopefully I can share details soon!

I have also been working on some really fun design projects lately.  And, today I’m extra excited because I just picked up some beautiful prints from the print shop for one of the projects!  I will be packaging up some pretty paper to drop in the mail today!  I will share this fun project with you as soon as I can!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Ps. I posted the above picture because it reminds me so much of Oregon!  Jonathan and I love going on a hike near house that looks just like this!  Especially the misty sky!

Homemade Donut Recipe

8 Apr

You guys!  Oh my goodness I have the most amazing recipe for you today…homemade donuts!  This post is long overdue, and I am sorry it took me so long. But, I promise it won’t disappoint!

donut recipe

Ingredients
Doughnuts
1/2 cup Buttermilk, Warm
1/8 cup Sugar
1 and 1/8 teaspoons Instant Or Active Dry Yeast
1 whole Large Egg, Beaten
1/2 stick Unsalted Butter, melted
2 cups All-purpose Flour
1/8 teaspoon Salt
Shortening – for frying the donuts

Glaze
1 and a 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 cup Cold Water Or Milk

Instructions
I adapted this recipe from The Pioneer Woman’s recipe that you can find here.  She gives very easy to understand (and detailed) instructions for how to make these donuts.  Because her recipe instructions are so fabulous, I think you should use them to make this recipe too!  I included my ingredients above because I made a few changes from the original recipe.  If you would like to use those ingredients for this recipe, I highly recommend it!  I also halved the recipe because the recipe makes SO many donuts and even with the recipe cut in half, you get enough donuts for at least 4 people!

From making these donuts a couple times, I learned a few tips I thought I would share with you.

Tips:
1. To give a little variety I decided to dip half the donuts in the glaze and dip the other half of the donuts in white sugar.  Both were super tasty!
2. The second time I made these donuts we decided to have some friends over and throw a little donut party.  I made the dough the night before, and then the next morning before our guests arrived I rolled/cut out all the donuts and made sure they had all risen to their correct size.  Then once our friends arrived, we had fun frying the dough and choosing our flavors together.
3.  For the little ones:  As a way to include the younger kids who came over, we made a mini dipping station where we put all the flavors in small bowls next to a plate of the donut holes.  The kids had fun picking out their own flavors, and dipping the donut holes themselves!

Instagrams No. 3 / Harry Potter Land!

5 Apr

Good morning dear friends!  I am so excited to share with you my instagrams from the Harry Potter Theme Park.  To be honest, it was AMAZING!  The Wizarding World of Harry Potter resides in the Island of Adventure Theme Park which is also attached to the Universal Studios Theme Park in Orlando, Florida.  We decided to just get a ticket to the Island of Adventure (because we were most excited about Harry Potter), and it was definitely enough to fill an entire day.  We were running around trying to fit it all in!

If you are a Harry Potter fan (and even if you aren’t!) this is the most magical place.  It was spring break when we were there so it was pretty busy so I would suggest going on an off-season.  But, even with the crazy lines, we were in heaven!  Hogsmead was everything I hoped it would be and more!  And, within Hogsmead, you could go to the Three Broomsticks for lunch or just order some tasty butterbeer.  They also had made Hogwarts into the most AMAZING ride.  I don’t want to give to much away just in case you decide to visit this magical land, but I will say, the ride was fabulous.  You feel like you have actually entered Hogwarts, and they simulate the experience of riding a broomstick!  You won’t be disappointed!  I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Have a wonderful Friday!

I like this outfit because it would be pretty easy to recreate with stuff from my own closet.  I love the fun coral colors for spring, and those sandals are fabulous!
