Spring Break Uniform

Good morning friends!  It’s Friday!  Today I wanted to share a fun (and cheap) spring break outfit with you guys.  I have found that I always have a hard time transitioning my wardrobe to the next season so I spent some time on my vacation experimenting with spring outfits.  It seems like right when I get one season figured out, we are on to the next one.  Also, sometimes spring can be tricky because it is both warm and cold depending on the time of day.  Here is an outfit that I found to be both comfortable and cute for the spring weather.

Instagrams No. 2 / Florida Trip Part 1

28 Mar

Hello friends!  How are you?!  I am back from vacation, and it is good to be home!  One of the best things about vacation is appreciating your everyday life when you get back.  I think sometimes I have to take a break from normal life to remind myself how much I really like it.  That said, Jonathan and I had such an amazing time in Florida!  It was so nice to get away and soak up some vitamin D!  And, the Harry Potter Theme Park was amazing!  But, more on that later.  Today I thought I would post some of my instagram pictures from the first part of the trip.

We went to Florida because Jonathan was attending a medical conference there, and these pictures are from our time spent at the resort where his conference was held.  It worked out great because I was able to relax at the resort while Jonathan was in lecture sessions, then when we was done we could meet up and explore.  We had beautiful weather most of the time with a few southern storms throughout the week.  Overall, it was fabulous!

Vacation Time!

Hi friends!  Guess what?!  I’m off to Florida for a week, and the thing I am most excited for is the Harry Potter Theme Park!  I have been dying to go since I heard about it, and I am finally getting myself there!  Have any of you been?  I will post pictures of the trip when I get back, and give you the details on all the wonderfulness!

Because I will be out town, and doing my very best to relax, I will be taking a little break from blogging.  But, my schedule next quarter will be a little lighter so I hope to get back to regular daily posts, and I have a few projects I have been working on that I am so excited to share with you!

Alright, I am off to present my final drawings!  Wish me luck!

Take care friends!

Art Work Preview

18 Mar

Hi friends!  Happy Monday!   What did you do over the weekend?  My final drawing is due tomorrow so I worked on that ALL weekend.  The project is to draw 3 thematically related compositions, and you have to spend at least 20 hours on them.  I am very excited about how my project turned out so I thought I would give you a little preview.  The design below is a part of my final project.  I drew one of my wedding pictures in black pen, and it was so fun!

Inspiration No. 3

13 Mar

Hi friends!  Happy Wednesday!  We are already halfway through the week!  After having such a sunny weekend in Corvallis, I have had spring on the brain so I thought I would do a floral inspiration board today.  I just love all the beautiful flowers and colors.

Visit from Holly

Happy Tuesday friends!  How is your week going?  Life around here is getting pretty crazy as I have finals next week, and Jonathan is schedule to work the next nine straight days!  We are just trying to survive until next Tuesday, then we are off to Florida for vacation!

As I told you last Friday, my sister came to visit this weekend.  We had the most fabulous time exploring Portland on Friday, and then spent the rest of the weekend in Corvallis playing in the sun.  It was such a fun and memorable which made it really hard to see her leave as the weekend came to a close.  It was so hard to say goodbye to her.  She gives me so much life and joy, and I really wished we lived in the same city!  But, I know that time will come someday in the future and I just need to be thankful for the wonderful times I do get to see her.  Thank you for visiting me Holly!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday friends!  Aren’t you so glad it’s almost the weekend!  Well, I sure am!  Lately, I have been SUPER busy with school, and I pretty much do art from when I wake up until when I go to bed.  I’m not complaining though because it is a dream to get the opportunity to do so much art!  I just love it!

I am also jumping for joy because I am picking up my sister from the airport today!  She is visiting all weekend, and I have so many wonderful things planned for us!  Mostly drinking large amounts of coffee and making tons of ice cream – what more could a girl want?!  Seriously though, I am just so excited to be able to spend some quality time with my sister.  It has been hard not getting to live in the same city any more, and I just can’t wait to see her!

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

PS. The above picture is of an art exhibit at the Sallie Ford Museum of Art in Salem, OR.  It was a fabulous art show!

Color Theory No. 2

7 Mar

Good morning friends!  Today I have the next post in my color theory series to share with you.  In the first post we talked a little about the color wheel, and today I would like to talk about color harmonies.  Color harmonies are different colors within the color wheel that create a pleasing effect to the eye and are grouped by their location in the color wheel.  Today I wanted to illustrate complementary color.  Complementary colors are two colors that sit opposite of one another on the color wheel.  A few examples are yellow/violet, red/green and blue/orange.  I chose to do the complementary colors, blue and orange, and I have showed you an example below.  In this picture, the artist only used tints and shades of blue and orange to display their art.

What do you think of this color harmony?  Do you like these two colors together?  Do you think they create a pleasing effect?

Good morning friends!  How was your weekend?  We had a blast up in Portland on Saturday.  We decided to head back to our old stomping grounds and revisit Mississippi Ave.  It proved to be as fabulous as ever, and we had a blast!  Today I thought I would post a few instagram photos from the past couple weeks since I have been so absent lately!
