March Desktop Calendar

1 Mar

Happy March!  Can you believe it is March 1st already?!  I have a new desktop calendar for you to download.  I am dreaming of spring so I thought I would incorporate fun spring colors into the design.

What are your plans for the weekend?  I am so excited for this weekend because one of my best friends will be staying in Portland so Jonathan and I will be driving up to stay with her!  Yay for getting to see friends!  I am thinking we will have to partake in really good food, and maybe some pedicures!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!  Here is the desktop calendar to download.  Enjoy!

Color Theory No. 1

26 Feb

Good morning friends!  How is your week going?  Mine started off as busy as ever, but I have been really missing getting to post everyday so I wanted to make today’s post a priority!

I have decided to start a new column for my blog, and I wanted to tell you guys about it.  Lately I have been learning a lot about color theory so I thought it would be fun to talk about different color harmonies and how the different colors relate to each other.  There are many different color harmonies associated with the color wheel so I will be highlighting different ones as time goes on.  We will give the column a test run and see how it goes!  To get us started, I will leave you with a fun color wheel picture I found.

Illustrator Self Portrait

20 Feb

Hi friends!  I am really sorry that I have been MIA lately!  School has been really crazy and it has forced me to take a few days off of blogging.  For the next few weeks there may be less posts throughout the week, but I promise I am still here and I hope to get back to full time posts soon!  Thank you for following me along the way, this journey has been amazing!

In the mean time I wanted to leave you with a project I have been working on.  I was assigned a project where I had to draw a self portrait in Illustrator, and here is what I made.  I plan to re-work it again before it goes into my portfolio, but here is what I have so far.

I hope you all have a fabulous Wednesday!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday!  I am so excited for the weekend!  Do you have any fun plans?  Jonathan and I are heading to Portland today to pick up a good friend who is visiting, and hang out with one of my best friends!  We have reservations at one of our favorite restaurants where I am planning to order one of my favorite things – a cheese board!  Any one else with me that cheese boards are heavenly?!

Also, my birthday is on Sunday (I share a birthday with the fabulous Michael Jordan!) so we plan to spend the weekend celebrating that as well.  Although we are living far away from all of our friends and family, I feel so lucky that I still get to spend my birthday with friends!  What a treat!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Ps.  The above photo I took the other weekend up at the coast when it was so sunny and beautiful.  I keep having to pinch myself because I can’t believe we get to live so close to the Oregon Coast!

Visit from Grandma Jan

11 Feb

grandmajan_animated

Hi friends! Happy Monday!  I am sorry that I didn’t post a few days last week.  Mid-terms ended up getting the best of me after all, and I was slammed with school work.  I might be taking a couple days off this week as well to try and get everything done.

I wanted to do a quick check-in though and show you guys a new trick I learned in Photoshop…photo animation!  I have always wanted to learn how to do this, and I’m so glad I finally figured it out!

Also, we had a blast up at the coast last week with Grandma Jan!  Jonathan’s grandma rented a time share in Newport, Oregon, and it was so fun going up to visit her!  We showed her the sights, ate amazing food, and soaked up some (very) rare Oregon Coast sun!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Color Palette No. 14

6 Feb

Hello my lovely friends!  Today is kind of a crazy day because I start midterms!  But, it shouldn’t be too bad so I don’t mind.  Also, yesterday my drawing class took that field trip to Western Oregon University, and it was fabulous!  We went to a museum on campus that had an illustration exhibit.  The exhibit was really good, and it was fun to see illustration put into practice in so many different art forms.

I have another fun color palette for you today.  I picked this picture because I am totally obsessed with the chairs, and their great colors!  What do you think of them?

Inspiration No. 1

5 Feb

Hello!  And, happy Tuesday!  Can you believe it is already February!  It feels like the months are just flying by!

I am looking forward to school today because my drawing class is taking a day off of drawing, and heading out to an art exhibit.  When I was in Europe I got a little burnt out of museums, but now that it has been awhile, I am starting to miss them!  Do you like going to art museums?

Today I have rounded up a few images that are inspiring me.  I am in love with the beauty of sunlight in a room and the color white.  Enjoy!

Donut Recipe Preview

4 Feb

donut recipe preview

Good morning friends!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  We went to the coast yesterday to spend some time with Jonathan’s grandma who was visiting.  It was great to see family, and have a little time away!

I am getting excited to share my homemade donut recipe with you so I thought I would give you a little preview.  We made these homemade glazed and sugar donuts for breakfast a couple weeks back, and it was so much fun!  The process is a little time consuming, but completely worth it!  I loved making these donuts so much we are thinking of throwing a donut/breakfast party this weekend!  We have a few friends in town with kids, and we thought this would be a fun party to incorporate the whole family.  If we do it, I will let you know how it goes!

Check back in for the recipe which will be coming soon.

Have a great Monday!
