Yummy Adventures

12 Sep

Today I decided to post a few pictures of my life the past few weeks.  I have spent the last few weeks on the road visiting people and eating and drinking lots of yummy things.  Here are just a few of those yummy things.

Trend Alert: Oxford Flats

11 Sep

The accessory for all my outfits lately are Oxford flats.  I am obsessed with these shoes.  I like to wear them with everything!  For this particular outfit I am wearing my Oxford shoes with black skinny jeans from Gap rolled up and a coral blouse from Banana Republic.  My Oxford flats are from Target!  Can you believe that – I just love that place!

Color Palette No. 8

10 Sep

I have another fun color palette for you today!  I came across this picture the other day and just loved it!  There is something about this whimsical/colorful/
vintage/minimal look that I just can’t get enough of.  It has also given me an idea for my office.  I am thinking about painting my desk like this – maybe paint all the drawers teal or something.  What are your thoughts.  I would love feedback for this project because I just can’t decide.  If I do it, I will be sure to post the process for you to read.

Happy Friday

7 Sep

Can you believe it is Friday already?!  Time is just flying by!  What are your plans for the weekend?  Some of my fabulous college friends are going to be in Eugene, OR for a wedding so I get to see them for a little bit – and I am so excited!  It is always fun to see friends who live far away and you don’t get the privilege of seeing them very often.

The above picture is of my two sisters and me at my cousin’s wedding in Washington last weekend.  I deeply love and cherish my sisters and it was so wonderful being able to spend some time with them over the weekend.  My sister, Joanna, was my dance party at the wedding since Jonathan was still in Portland for work.  And what a fabulous dance partner she was!   I already can’t wait for the next cousin wedding (in 4 weeks!) to get back out on the dance floor again.  Sometimes it is just so therapeutic to dance.

I am so thankful for my sisters and don’t know what I would do without them.  Their friendship means the world to me and I am so grateful for their presence in my life.  Thank you Holly and Joanna for being amazing!  I love you guys!  Cheers to sisters!

Happy Friday!

Austin Adventures

6 Sep

Most of you know, two weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity of visiting Austin, Texas.  One of my best friends moved down there over a year ago and I have been wanting to visit her for awhile.  Well, I finally got the opportunity to go and I had the most amazing time!  Austin is wonderful and if you ever get the opportunity to go, take it!

First and foremost, it was so wonderful getting to spend some quality time with my beautiful friend, Leah.  We have always been kindred spirits and I am so thankful that I was able to have some time with her just the two of us.  She lives in a lovely part of Austin, close to downtown and in quite a charming neighborhood.

But not only did I get some amazing one-on-one time with one of my best friends, I also got to see so many fun restaurants and neighborhoods!  I feel like I don’t stay up very late anymore (I am getting old!) but not while I was in Austin – we stayed out late every night and had so much fun!  I really needed an adventure and adventure is what I got!  Thank you Leah!  We saw so many cool places and I am grateful for every minute!

One place I feel like I need to highlight in particular is the Midnight Cowboy.  This is a new bar (speakeasy style) that recently opened up in Austin where a reservation is necessary.  Leah had heard about it and called a week in advance to make a reservation and the only opening they had was at midnight!  This bar is unique because it is located in the heart of what Austin calls the dirty six.  The dirty six is sixth street in downtown Austin on weekend nights and it is super crazy!  The street is closed off to cars and it is full of really rowdy people.  But the Midnight Cowboy chose the dirty six as their location because they wanted to be a safe haven from all of the madness (and it sure was!).  So let me paint you a picture.  The Midnight Cowboy  doesn’t have a sign.  You have to know the address and look for a little red lightbulb out front.  Next to the door is a row of names with corresponding buttons.  You have to look for the name ‘Harry Craddick’ and buzz in.  Someone will appear at the door and ask you for your password.  If you have the right one (they give it to you when you make the reservation) then you will be let in.  Once inside it is a calm oasis filled with wonderful music and old world charm.  You really feel like you have been transported into a different era.  The experience was exceptional!  If you ever find yourself in Austin, you definitely have to try out the Midnight Cowboy.

Happy Thursday!

unexpected break

5 Sep

Hello again friends.  I am so sorry for my unexpected blogging break.  I wasn’t planning on taking a few days off but some unexpected circumstances came up and I haven’t even had access to my computers for awhile.  What I planned to be a five day vacation from Corvallis turned into a two week vacation.

This vacation was a good vacation for me.  I think it was necessary.  Isn’t it funny how sometimes the most necessary things are the unexpected ones?  Over the past two weeks I have been in Austin TX, Portland, Kennewick and back to Portland again – and all of it was fabulous for different reasons.

But I am excited to get back to blogging and I have some fun posts in store for you.  And I am also looking forward to updating you on all my travels.  I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

* The above picture I took while I was in Kennewick, Washington visiting family and attending my cousin’s wedding.  It was my sister’s birthday while we were there and her husband planned a surprise hike up Badger Mountain at sunrise for her.  He asked me to come and it ended up being a wonderful surprise and such a beautiful view!  He also had coffee and pastries for us when we got to the top.  She loved the surprise too!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday friends! I am sorry I didn’t have a post for you yesterday! When I got back from Austin I ended up staying in Portland to visit my sister and now I am in Washington for my cousin’s wedding.

I can’t wait to share all my Austin adventures with you. I had a fabulous time!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Ps. The above picture is in Portland at this amazing ice cream shop called Salt and Straw. Try it!

Trend Alert: Color Ombre

29 Aug

Ok, so we all know about the hair color ombre but have you noticed the bright color ombre trend? I have been seeing it everywhere and I love it! There are pretty ombre cakes and walls and table clothes and it is so wonderful. What do you think?

P is for Pasma

28 Aug

I bought this cute card with the letter P on it at a charming thrift store in Portland. Jonathan’s apartment in Portland is in one of the cutest neighborhoods in Portland and it is filled with lovely shops and restaurants. This card is a little bigger than a 5×7 card and also has a neat illustration on the back. I want to use it as decor. in our home but I can’t quite decide how. Or maybe I want to make a DIY project with it. I can’t decided! Any ideas?!

Color Palette No. 7

27 Aug

Hi friends! How was your weekend? I have been basking in the Texas sun over here in Austin. And it has been wonderful! Today I have a fun color palette for you. I decided to choose a color palette that is a little different from my usual style. I liked that there is a major color definition in the green wall but that they used a lot of white accents in the table decor. I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
