happy friday

Happy Friday friends!  I am so happy it is almost the weekend because we are headed to Denver tomorrow to visit some friends.  This will be our fourth straight weekend that we have been out of town but we have really enjoyed being able to have this time to visit friends and family.

We always said that this year in Corvallis would be a year a traveling.  It is a good time for us to take the time to visit all our friends that have been scattered around the country since we are in a transitional time in our life.  And we are so close to Portland so the flights are cheaper and shorter!

We also just found out about a direct flight from Eugene to San Fransisco so we would like to book a fun weekend get-a-away there too!  I just love San Fran and I think if I could pick to live anywhere right now, it would be there.  I lived there for a month studying art while I was in college and it was a magical place.  Have you visited San Fransisco before?  What did you think?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good morning!  Today I have another things that make me happy post for you.  The theme for today is Target!  I always love Target but I was there the other day and found so many wonderful things so I thought I would share them with you.  Something I always love about target is their great prices.  Everything I posted today is $30 and under.  You can’t beat that!

visiting home

25 Jul

This past weekend we flew to Spokane to visit friends and family.  And it was wonderful!!  We were also able to visit all the new local spots in town that we had been hearing about such as Coeur Coffee, Boots and Clover – all of them were fantastic!  If you ever find yourself in Spokane, make sure to send me a message because I will tell about all the great places you have to try while you are there.

We also got to spend quality time with many of our close friends.  It was important for me to try and plan ahead with friends as much as we could before we got there because I knew the trip would be a whirl wind and I didn’t won’t to leave anything out!   Have you ever lived away from your family and friends?  What was it like when you would visit?

One of the highlights from our trip turned out to be quite a simply, unplanned moment. On the last day we were in town I went over to my sister’s new apartment and we hung out there just the two of us.  We sat on the couch in the living room of her fourth floor apartment with the windows open and the sun shining it.  We just talked and laughed and it was magical.

As much as I like to plan, sometimes the unplanned moments take me by surprise and end up being quite perfect.

DIY: Greeting cards with washi tape

24 Jul

Today I wanted to share with you a fun DIY project for making greeting cards.  This is a really simply project that doesn’t take very much time and you will probably have most of the supplies lying around your home.  My favorite part about this project is the washi tape.  Don’t you just LOVE washi tape!  Some of my very good friends own a beautiful, boutique card company called Mango Ink and you can purchase really cute washi tape styles from their store.

Here are the directions for these fun greeting cards:

color palette no. 2

23 Jul

For my color palette today, I chose a picture of a beach in France found here. French anything seems to be a theme in my life right now. I think my subconscious is telling me I need to take a trip there soon! Anyway, I like this picture because it has so many beautiful blue colors with just a pop of red. Imagining myself sitting on the beach under a bright red umbrella makes my heart sing! What is your happy place?

happy friday

20 Jul

This is a picture I took when we were in Kennewick last weekend. It is a picture of the Columbia River. Who would have thought I could miss the Columbia River sooo much!

On another note, it’s almost the weekend! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I am so excited about this weekend because Jonathan and I are flying to SPOKANE, WA! Jonathan had a four day weekend and we decided to take advantage of our time and fly to Spokane for a few days. I am so excited to see all our fabulous friends and visit all of our favorite places.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

things that make me happy

19 Jul

The things that make me happy today are a little random.  I am obsessed with this skirt from Ruche but unfortunately they are sold out at the moment!  Huge bummer!  But I am hoping they bring it back in stock.  Also, I am so excited because the band, Passion Pit, has just come out with a new album and I can’t wait to buy it.  I have heard a little bit of it on YouTube and so far I love it.  If you have never listened to Passion Pit before, you should at least see what they are all about because they are very unique and very wonderful.  I hope you all have a fabulous day!

French Macaroon Recipe

18 Jul

Bonjour!  Today I am going to teach you how to make French Macaroons.  My French class has decided to have a small french party and we are all supposed to bring pastries.  Lately, I have been in love with Macaroons and just can’t seem to get enough of them so I thought I would practice making them for my upcoming party.  I found a recipe from Martha Stewart’s website that you can view here and I adapted it to my own.  Let me just tell you now, they are not the easiest thing to make but they are definitely worth it!

Here are a few photos from our trip to Kennewick.  The first picture is of my nephew, Grey.  Isn’t he the cutest?!  My sister-in-law and brother-in-law took us out on their boat on the Columbia River and we had a blast!  (Thank you April and Cameron!)  We had a lot of fun being out on the water and soaking up some sun.

We had so much fun being home and spending some quality time with family.  Since we will only be in the Pacific Northwest for another year, we want to take as many opportunities as we can to see family.

color palette no. 1

16 Jul

Hi friends!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  Jonathan and I were in Kennewick, Washington for the weekend visiting family and we had a wonderful time there.

Today I wanted to introduce a new column that I would like to start incorporating into my blog.  It is titled, “Color Palette.”  One of my favorite parts of design are colors and how different colors interact with one another.  Here is a fun summery color palette.  I just love all these colors together and how both bright and dark colors can go so well together.
